BEEHIVE BAKING COMPANY & BDA EGGS

Community is at the heart of the BDA story.  We know that without the support of Alabama locals, we don’t get to do what we love to do. Having a strong network of businesses is what keeps a community going strong. We are proud to be a part of that. Partnering with local businesses, such as Beehive Baking Company, makes us extremely grateful to be a part of such a great community. We have the opportunity to meet and talk to the owners, chefs, and bakers to keep a personal relationship with them.

Beehive Baking Company has been a loyal customer of BDA Farm by using our pasture raised eggs in their baked goods! When asked why Beehive Baking Company wanted us to be their supplier, they said, “By exclusively using BDA's free-range eggs in our products, we are thrilled to partner with another small business that shares our central -and simple- guiding principle that good food can bring people and communities together. We aim to highlight and support Alabama's best growers and small producers by using their ingredients in our seasonal baked goods often. And we've been fans of BDA's delicious, high quality, and responsibly produced eggs for years!” We are honored to be partnered with such a great company as well!

The mission of Beehive Baking Company is “to offer the highest quality, best tasting breads and baked goods, all while creating lasting and meaningful relationships with our customers through our front porch delivery and personalized service.” The bakery started with a passion for baking but grew into a passion for people and community. The mission and values for this wonderful company aligns perfectly with our values here at BDA, and it makes us grateful to be the company that they chose to provide their eggs!

So, what makes BDA Farm eggs so special?

Why would a bakery choose BDA eggs? The eggs at BDA Farm are more than just plain eggs, with higher levels of Vitamin A, E, and Omega-3’s in pasture-raised eggs than conventional eggs. They are also lower in cholesterol and saturated fats. Since our chickens roam freely and have access to the sun during all daylight hours, the eggs they lay have 4 times more Vitamin D than conventional eggs. As mentioned before, our chickens are 100% pasture raised, free range birds. We have a flock of around 3,000 chickens that are currently at a 90% laying rate - that’s a LOT of eggs! We have an amazing chicken crew (plus loyal guard dogs!) that tends to them each day to make sure they are happy and healthy hens!

Be sure to go check out Beehive Baking Company in Irondale, AL. They offer delivery options and have amazing baked goods! I asked them what their favorite baked good was, and they HIGHLY recommended the Breakfast Buddies! They rotate their menu throughout the year, but these stay year-round. Made with toasted oats, locally milled flour, BDA free-range eggs, pumpkin puree, tart cranberries, sweet raisins, sliced almonds, pumpkin seeds, maple syrup, and a blend of warm and comforting spices! This is the perfect breakfast treat, afternoon pick me up, or alight dessert! They really are the “anytime cookie”!

Thank you to Beehive Baking Company, and everyone else that choosing BDA! You allow us to continue to do what we love to do – providing high-quality food that is good for the earth, and good for you!
