  • RESERVE YOUR SLOT EARLY:

    1. We will take orders for wholes and halves anytime. Processing will occur once a year in the fall after optimal feeding with summer grasses. The earlier we receive the orders, the easier it will be for us to guarantee your spot!

    2. Orders for a whole animal will automatically be filled. If we receive an order for a half, we must receive an order from another customer for the rest of the animal in order to guarantee sale. If you cannot buy a whole, perhaps you have friends or family who would like to join you in buying a half.

    3. Reserve your slot with an initial deposit of $250 (half beef) or $500 (whole beef).

    4. When you reserve your slot, we will recommend and introduce you to a suitable, local processor who will bill you directly for processing, and work with you to determine the best cut sheet.

    PURCHASE YOUR SHARE & PROCESS:

    1. We will sell your share of the animal to you and deliver it to the processor. Before processing, we will invoice you the remaining balance once finished live weight is confirmed.

    2. Processor will coordinate their process directly with you. Please note that all expenses related to processing must be paid to the processor, not to Bois d’Arc Farm. We estimate these fees to be ~$650.

    RECEIVING YOUR SHARE:

    1. You can arrange pickup or delivery directly with the processor.

    2. If you don’t have enough space at home, or would like us to store for you, we are happy to freeze all or a portion for later delivery. There is no charge for our freezer storage service.

    3. If storing at BDA, you can pick up meat from our freezer by prior arrangement at no charge. We also offer delivery for those in the Tuscaloosa & Birmingham areas, as well as in the corridor from our farm to both cities. Contact Sally directly for delivery schedule and associated costs.   • Wholes and halves will be delivered as steaks, roasts, and ground meat. We can work with you to advise on a cut sheet that would best serve your needs, or you can choose your desired cuts directly with the processor. Rest assured that steaks will always include at least Filet (tenderloin), New York Strips, and Ribeyes.

  • Paid To Bois d’Arc Farm: The cost for our 100% Grass-fed Angus will be $3 per pound of live weight. Our Angus vary in weight but typically have a live weight of 1,150 lbs. (This would typically be equivalent to $6 per pound of carcass weight and $8 per pound of usable meat) Please note that an individual animal could vary greatly from these typical numbers.

    We are selling the animal before processing, so our pricing is based on live weight. Any additional figures above are included to give you an idea of what your meat will cost. Actual costs may vary.


    Paid to Processor:
    The estimated cost of processing an Angus is $650. This might add $1.44 per pound of usable meat. These numbers may also vary greatly depending on the weight of the individual animal and the individual processor’s pricing.


    Total Cost:
    We estimate that the total cost for a whole animal will be roughly $4,100. Of this, $3,450 would be billed by BDA and $650 would be billed by the processor. You could receive approx. 430lbs of meat at an average price of $9.53 per pound. Please note that these are estimates and actual costs may vary.
